Eindhoven, The Netherlands, 25 February 2021 – During this year’s Embedded World DIGITAL 2021, AAEON unveilied their entire lineup of their latest embedded solutions powered by Intel Technology and 5G-ready platforms. Embedded World is the world’s leading trade fair for embedded systems and happened this year as a virtual event from March 1 to 5, 2021.
AAEON is recognized as an Intel Premium Partner for its help in accelerating the adoption of advanced IoT and edge networks by leveraging technologies including edge computing and 5G communication. With the launch of Intel’s next-generation processors, AAEON is unveiling eleven new products that deliver responsiveness, power efficiency, and high performance at the edge.
The 11th Generation Intel Core processors, Intel Atom x6000E series, and Intel Pentium and Celeron N and J series are bringing new artificial intelligence (AI), security, functional safety, and real-time capabilities to edge customers. AAEON is unveiling new innovations as a response to challenges felt across the IoT industry: edge complexity, investment costs, data protection and security challenges, and a range of environmental conditions.
11th Generation Intel Core Processor Series
The latest 11th Generation Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics (formerly code name Tiger Lake) is Intel’s most ambitious system-on-chip (SoC). It can power intensive artificial intelligence (AI) applications, clocking speeds up to 4.4 GHz with a TDP of only 28 Watts and cTDP of 15 Watts. The processors also unlock a range of Intel tools designed to optimize performance and security, including the Intel® Functional Safety Essential Design Package, vPRO (i5, i7 only), TSN and TCC enabled LAN ports for real-time networking support.
Leveraging the 11th Generation Intel Core Processors, AAEON has unveiled seven new embedded single board computers: PICO-TGU4, GENE-TGU6, COM-TGU6, Nano-COM*, MIX-TUD1*, BOXER-6643*, and UP Xtreme i11. These boards can be integrated into edge computing platforms, such as the UP Xtreme i11 Edge Compute Enabling Kit. With a wide range of industrial I/Os, operating temperatures, and power requirements, these products are ideal for industrial internet of things (IIOT) applications.
Intel Atom x6000 Series and Intel Pentium and Celeron N and J Series
The Intel Atom x6000E Series and Intel Pentium and Celeron N and J Series processors offer a broad range of dual- or quad-core options running up to 3.0 GHz with support for both DDR4 and LPDDR4/x memory in up to 64 GB configurations, specifically designed for IoT devices. These processors can drive a maximum resolution of 4kp60 on up to three simultaneous devices, and the Intel UHD Graphics deliver two times better performance over previous generations.
AAEON is introducing four new embedded single board computers that leverage the Intel Atom x6000E Series and Intel Pentium and Celeron N and J series processors: PICO-EHL4, GENE-EHL5*, MIX-EHLD1*, and UP Squared 6000*. These boards can also be integrated into an edge computing platform from AAEON.
5G-Ready Platforms
With the next-generation 5G network, AAEON’s innovative 5G-ready platforms will connect more IoT devices and expand AI capabilities more than ever before.
5G is the next big step in wireless communication. 5G networks will provide 50x more speed, 10x less latency, and 10x more capacity for connected devices than 4G/LTE. It promises to bring faster internet services to consumers, with larger data transfer capabilities for industries to roll out the next generation of IoT devices and expand the capabilities of cloud and edge computing. It promises to bring a new age of connectivity and communication, further driving Industry 4.0.
Manufacturers, industrial equipment vendors (OEMs and ODMs), and developers who face both time sync (coordinated events) and timeliness (timely events) challenges with industrial applications, such as robotic arms and motion controllers, will be able to take advantage of AAEON products equipped with TSM.
AAEON is unveiling their 5G-ready platforms, which offer 5G connectivity through M.2 ports. When leveraging the 5G network for IoT devices, these 5G enabled platforms will seamlessly connect and collaborate between the edge and the cloud, allowing for large data transfers with real-time capabilities and minimal latency.
AAEON has implemented a variety of Intel processors in their 5G platforms to meet a wide range of project requirements. These next generation solutions provide greater performance, flexibility, and a host of Intel technologies to power computing at the edge:
- Intel 11th Generation Core Processors (formerly Tiger Lake): UP Xtreme i11 and BOXER-6643*
- Intel Atom x6000 Series (formerly Elkhart Lake): UP Squared 6000*
- Intel 10th Generation Core Processors (formerly Comet Lake): MAX-Q470A
- Intel 8th Generation Core Processors (formerly Whiskey Lake): VPC 5620S and UP Xtreme Lite
- Intel Atom Process C3000 Series (formerly Denverton): FWS 2365
- Intel 7th Generation Core Processors (formerly Apollo Lake): VPC 3350S and UP Squared Pro
