Computer-in-Robot: Introducing the de next-RAP8-EZBOX

The world’s smallest, lightest 13th Gen Intel Core-powered embedded system is designed to be the brains behind industrial robots.

Premium performance in an ultra-compact, fully embedded platform, the de next-RAP8-EZBOX is a computing marvel. Designed for deployment in space-constrained autonomous systems or as the central controller within industrial robots, the de next-RAP8-EZBOX packs 13th Generation Intel® Core™ processing, up to 16GB of LPDDR5x, and a full-function I/O into a PC measuring just 95.5mm x 69.5mm x 42.5mm/45.4mm and weighing only 235g.

Ultra-Compact with Elite Compute Potential

Despite its incredibly small physical footprint, the de next-RAP8-EZBOX is equipped with 13th Gen Intel® Core™ processing alongside both Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics and integrated Intel® DL Boost. As a result, the system offers up to 10 cores and 12 threads of compute performance while able to accelerate neural network workloads and execute computer vision tasks, both ideally suited for industrial robots that require efficient path planning, data processing, and vision-based inspection capabilities.

Versatile Heat Dissipation for Full Integration

The de next-RAP8-EZBOX is available with both fan-assisted and passive heatsink cooling options, making it possible to integrate the system into fully sealed enclosures without the risk of overheating. Moreover, the system’s 15W performance hybrid architecture CPU and LPDDR5x system memory both minimize heat output and energy draw, preventing excessive thermal buildup during extended periods of operation.

A Full-Function I/O for Robust Connectivity

Sporting dual LAN ports running at both GbE and 2.5GbE speeds alongside two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, the de next-RAP8-EZBOX is well-equipped to connect and coordinate with various robotics subsystems while also supporting key peripheral devices such as cameras, sensors, or microcontrollers. The system’s M.2 2280 M-Key slot also opens the door to versatile expansion for different project needs, accommodating NVMe SSDs for high-speed read/write storage and even legacy device adapters.
